Yes, those are snowshoes, and yes, this IS April 5th. Although this are often gets spring snows in April, it is usually after the frost has come out of the ground, and the snow melts quickly. This year the frost has come out only in some areas, and the amount of snow was greater than I remember.
So, I got out the snow shoes to get to the greenhouse at the bottom of the hill. Once there I dug out the snow by the door, and loaded it in tubs, and put it on the garlic for moisture. By afternoon when I took this photo, most of the snow had seeped in to the soil.
I will continue to add snow to the beds for moisture and get things planted. Yes, I am later than Ken was most years, but I am a team of one now
