Monday evening Ken fed the pigs for the last time.
Tuesday morning, Election Day, was the last day for the pigs. Early that morning Chris came and slaughtered on farm. We believe in on farm slaughter as the animals appear to have no stress, and all waste stays on the farm. We choose that time of year as the meat is processed before deer hunting season.
Pigs here are a valuable member of the farm team. they clear areas and dig like four legged roto tillers. He sprouts grain for them and we stew up vegetable culls for them as well. We feed sadness at their departure along with some relief that chores take less time.
We also feel a deep gratitude for all they do while here. Every inch they dig up is an inch Ken is not using equipment and gas. We enjoy their company and antics. We give them the best diet, pasture, and life that we can. Thank you, pigs
