Ken is constantly planting from February through November. This week he pulled out the determinate tomatoes in the garden and some summer squash plants.
Then he started mulching and preparing the beds for fall crops –
Then Ken ran the wheel hoe through the beds
and added compost
Finally Ken spread out the compost, and now he will let the bed rest, wait for some of the weed seeds to germinate, rake the tiny “cotton stage” of the weeds, and then plant.
Here are the transplants by the back door. The fiber is for protection in heavy rain or hot sun. They will go in the newly prepared beds.
