Getting By with Some Help from My Friends: The Saw Buck

We have had some cold weather.  And Ken got sick with tractors and wood splitter not working.  A friend brought me a load of wood.  Another helped stack it.

And a third hosted me in her workshop and built (with a bit of help from me) a prototype of a sawbuck from my memory of one Ken and I had years ago.  A Saw buck is an x-shaped sawhorse that holds longer wood so it can be cut to shorter lengths.

I have several cords of dry kiln wood.  Now if I get low on wood I can buck that up for the cook stove and wood stove.

Thank you, to Josh, Dianne, and Victoria

  1. I’m glad to read of your success in this and other tasks of life here in this part of Wisconsin, Judith. It reminded me of the old adage of life “before” and “after” enlightenment, when each involved the same actions of “chop wood, carry water”.
It’s resourceful of you to carry on so well, after Ken’s passing, and I was saddened to hear that he left us far before I thought he would.
I’m very pleased to hear that you’ve got good friends and support, to help you continue to do well. Another woman in our area just split up from her longtime partner, and even though I couldn’t help her with a financial contribution to her unexpected plight, we’ve brought some much-appreciated firewood for her to stay warm with, until winter abates.
Here’s hoping it’s not too difficult to keep your wits about you, Judith, while you continue to mourne the loss of your longtime fella. I’m sorry he’s gone too.
