The Christmas Tree

With Ken out of town I thought it would be fun to surprise him upon return with the Christmas tree cut, set up and decorated.  I figured I was up to the challenge of doing it alone – and I was right.  What an adventure!

First I got a rope ( my sister – in- law’s excellent suggestion), and a bow saw and the longer sturdier sled.  Then I looked at trees.  Like Goldilocks not too large, not too small, just right.  Ken had cut lower branches so I started cutting at about chest height.  It seemed slow going and then I remembered there were three bow saws so I went and got another – it was sharp and zoom.  Done.

Then I pulled it over and cut to length, lopped the branches off the lower part for the orchard and set the core by the wood pile.

Next was loading the tree and hauling to the house

Once I got the tree inside and cut to proper length  (yup, my eyes were bigger than my ceiling)the next step was  getting tree in stand and straight – with a natural tree straight is relative!  Now it is decorated and sssshhh.  Let’s surprise Ken!
