Hail, Hail, … and Rain

Tuesday we got hail.  It began to rain.  I checked the internet weather and  facebook-  photos from nearby farmers with HUGE hail.  We had just moved the mobile high tunnel so the greens didn’t cook, and now they were exposed to the elements.   It was pouring and with our metal roof it is hard to tell whether it is hard rain or hail.  I looked out and saw small random hail.  Here are some spinach leaves from Wednesday’s harvest

We got a lot of rain.  Wednesday it was over 3 inches and by today – Friday – I had over 5 inches in the crocks – a fairly accurate gauge as they have straight sides.

I turned the pots over this afternoon as the forecast is for below freezing tonight.  From nearly 80 Tuesday to below 32 tonight.  Pretty shocking for the plants and animals
