a squash on hay bale 002Greetings from the Garden! This week’s CSA box has tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, carrots, onions, garlic, eggplant, cabbage, greens, basil, parsley, and cilantro

Field Notes.  Ken has been harvesting!  And he is planting fall crops as well.  He has been mulching and composting and preparing the soil where the mobile tunnel will move for late fall and winter.

a jam 005From the Kitchen.  I am moving into preserving mode.

Last week I made jams and froze ripe bell peppers for winter use.

a peppers 007Ken was in the kitchen on Wednesday after he harvested and while I was rinsing and sorting and packing boxes.  He made lasagne, apple blackberry pie, cole slaw with cabbage, cucumber salad and potato salad.  Needles to say I did not do much cooking!!

I did bring a tomato salad with sliced onion, basil, balsamic vinegar, and olive oil dressing.  It was well received.
